Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of this community.

With no full-time staff, volunteer efforts touch every aspect of the congregation. If you have an interest, passion or skill that you are willing to share, check out our volunteer opportunities and let us know how you can help:

Building and Grounds:

Caring & Membership:: The Caring Committee of Shir Shalom depends on devoted volunteers who make phone calls, write notes and deliver meals to fellow congregants in need. These activities are headed by a monthly coordinator. We are an expanding group of caring individuals responding to the needs of our community. We welcome all who would like to help. Communication

Education: is the compass for our Hebrew School, and the sounding board for our Family Education Director.  This group of parents helps guide our school's curricular, pedagogical, and programming decisions to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our learners and families, and properly aligning ourselves with Shir Shalom Vermont's core values. To that end, we meet monthly on Sunday mornings, to discuss happenings in our school, needs of our students and teachers, volunteer opportunities and needs, and road-mapping our plans for a robust  and dynamic future. All are welcome to ideate, create, and implement with us!  This upcoming year, we are working on drafting a Visioning Statement and a Portrait of a Graduate. For more information on joining our group, contact Leah at: leah.gawel@shirshalomvt.org

Fundraising:
High Holy Day Choir:The choir sings at all of the High Holy Day Services.  They will be welcoming new members when they reconvene next summer. The choir meets weekly for evening rehearsals during the summer. Ability to read music is helpful but not required.  It’s a lot of fun and the singing is getting better and better each year. Holocaust:

Knitters: meet monthly to knit beautiful Healing Shawls and distribute them to those who need prayers from our community. This group also makes baby blankets for Baby Namings. We welcome all to our committee. Contact Sue Brown if you are interested: susanbrown331@gmail.com
