Social Action

Shir Shalom's Social Action Committee was formed in the Spring of 2020 with a focus on local efforts. The committee set up a food security campaign where members and volunteers raised over $2000 for local food banks, donated non-perishables, and cooked enough meals to serve 120 residents of the Upper Valley. Going forward, the plan is to host more food campaigns.

An additional focus is racial justice. In alignment with the RAC's (Religious Action Center) efforts, the Committee hosted a speaker series in January 2021 to establish strategies for discussing and combating racism in the Upper Valley. Speakers included Rev. Leon Dunkley, Dr. Suzannah Heschel, and Sen. Kesha Ram. The speakers provided a varied and eye-opening set of lessons.

The Social Action Committee invites anyone who would like to be involved in its efforts to get in touch. Tikkun Olam - Repair the World!
